Duke University's Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Studies, offered by the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences and administered by the Sanford School of Public Policy, is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to analyze, develop, and implement policies that address complex societal challenges. The curriculum includes core coursework in policy analysis, political and economic analysis, value conflicts, statistics/data science, and the economics of the public sector. Students must also complete a policy-oriented internship and electives in specialized policy areas (including international relations, technology, ethics, and social problems). The program emphasizes critical reading, analytical thinking, clear writing, and ethical decision-making, preparing graduates for impactful careers in public service, nonprofit organizations, policy research, law, and beyond. International experience, leadership development, and the exploration of real-world policy issues are integral to the major.
