Duke University’s Bachelor of Arts in Theater Studies, offered through the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences, provides students with a rigorous foundation in both the theory and practice of theater. The program combines scholarly research, critical analysis, and creative production, with coursework spanning dramatic literature, performance, stagecraft, directing, and dramaturgy. Students have access to main-stage productions, workshops, opportunities in dramaturgy, directing, and original performance creation, as well as engagement with international and experimental theater. Honors or concentrations such as Critical Studies in Theater and Performance, Dramatic Writing, and Dramaturgy and Directing are available. The program encourages strong interdisciplinary exploration and creative expression.
