These are the three MSc routes within the Scottish Graduate Programme in Economics (SGPE), hosted and awarded by the University of Edinburgh. The programmes provide rigorous, research‑oriented training in advanced microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, with heavy use of mathematical and statistical methods, preparing graduates for professional economist roles or PhD study. The SGPE collaborates across eight Scottish universities, but students study and reside in Edinburgh throughout the programme. The programme is intensive, especially in Semester 1 (approximately 21–26 contact hours per week), with multiple assessments and a dissertation submitted in August; pre‑sessional summer preparation is offered and may be required for some offers.
