The programme is hosted by the Institute for Materials and Processes (IMP) in the School of Engineering, College of Science & Engineering. IMP unites researchers across materials science and chemical, mechanical, and bio-engineering to conduct research on design, synthesis, and processing of materials, as well as biomedical and process engineering. The Institute highlights strengths in carbon capture engineering, biomedical/biological engineering, and provides excellent laboratory facilities, including advanced instrumentation for adsorption, biomedical engineering, conservation materials science, high-pressure/high-temperature materials synthesis, ice mechanics, and capabilities in multiphase flows and multiscale modelling.
