The MSc Public Policy provides an advanced, interdisciplinary understanding of policy-making and government activity, combining theory-led, empirically informed and practice-oriented study. It covers theories and approaches to understanding and engaging with policy work and applies them through case-based learning, with particular focus on social and economic policy in modern welfare states. Teaching draws on multi-disciplinary expertise across the School of Social and Political Science and is delivered via lectures, seminars, group work and guided independent study; students normally take three courses per semester (one core, two options) plus a dissertation.
