The MSc Classics offers flexible, research-led study of classical civilisation, letting you focus on specific periods/regions, analyse the literary significance of texts, and develop Greek and Latin language skills. Drawing on more than 30 Classics staff, you can pursue specialised or interdisciplinary paths across Greek/Latin literature and thought, Greek and Roman history, and Classical art/archaeology, with broader expertise in late antiquity and reception history. The structure includes one compulsory Skills and Methods in Classics course, additional skills courses and options, plus a dissertation; students typically take six courses (normally three per semester) and complete a 15,000-word MSc dissertation, with limits on the number of Greek/Latin language courses. Weekly Classics research seminars and a graduate seminar support scholarly engagement.
