The School of Economics offers three MSc routes—Economics, Economics (Finance), and Economics (Econometrics)—providing rigorous, research-oriented training in economics and econometrics with heavy use of analytical theory, mathematics, and statistics. The programmes are part of the Scottish Graduate Programme in Economics (SGPE), a collaboration across eight Scottish universities, with degrees awarded by the University of Edinburgh and teaching delivered in Edinburgh by SGPE faculty. The MSc lasts one year full-time (or two years part-time), includes preliminary, core and optional courses, a residential conference, and a dissertation, and prepares graduates for roles in government, international organisations, and research-focused positions. Entry requirements and language requirements are set by the University and vary by programme; applicants should consult the programme page for specifics.
