The Imes-Moore Bridge Program at the University of Michigan is a two-year, fully funded master's-level bridge program designed to prepare students from diverse backgrounds for entry to Ph.D. studies in applied physics and related interdisciplinary fields. Named in honor of pioneering African American physicists Dr. Elmer Samuel Imes and Dr. Willie Hobbs Moore, the program aims to strengthen students’ fundamentals in physics, provide mentoring, and offer broad research opportunities across more than fourteen departments. Key program features include a flexible curriculum, personal mentorship, weekly seminars, research rotations, and guaranteed continuous financial support (including tuition waiver, stipend, and health insurance). Students benefit from an environment focused on professional development and preparation for competitive doctoral programs.
