The Master of Science (MS) in Natural Resources and Environment – Environmental Justice at the University of Michigan's School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) is an interdisciplinary graduate program. It integrates coursework from public health, policy, law, and urban planning to address the intersection of environmental issues and social equity. The program's hallmark is its hands-on, action-based learning accompanied by mentorship from leading practitioners and scholars in the field. Students engage in a minimum of 42 credit hours (including at least 25 EAS credits) in areas such as environmental justice core requirements (6 credits), social systems, international environmental justice, statistics, analytics, integrated analytic methods, and electives. The curriculum is designed to empower graduates to drive systemic change in communities disproportionately affected by environmental harms, and there are opportunities for dual degrees with other U-M schools.
