The Bachelor of Arts in Education (with Elementary Teacher Certification) at the University of Michigan Marsal Family School of Education prepares undergraduates to teach all subjects in grades PK–6 in self-contained classrooms. The program is rooted in social justice and equity, emphasizing rigorous instructional practices designed to disrupt inequities in schools. Students engage in both academic coursework and extensive field experiences, culminating in recommendation for Michigan's elementary teacher certification. The curriculum is driven by three pillars: high-leverage teaching practices, ethical obligations and justice priorities, and deep content knowledge for teaching. Graduates are equipped to teach effectively in diverse school settings and advocate for educational change.
