The BA in Community and Global Public Health at the University of Michigan School of Public Health is designed for students interested in exploring the interplay of cultural, ethical, social, economic, political, and social justice forces shaping health worldwide. This interdisciplinary program prepares students to address public health problems by examining determinants of health, health disparities, public health interventions, and the capacities of health infrastructures globally and locally. Core courses cover public health systems, population health determinants, data-driven solutions, and public health in action. Additional major-specific requirements include courses such as Global Public Health: Challenges & Transformations and Community, Culture and Social Justice in Public Health. The program also requires fourth-term proficiency in a foreign language, elective coursework, a health equity requirement, and a culminating professional experience. Students develop skills for careers in health education, policy, non-profit/governmental sectors, and community health promotion, or for further graduate study.
