The Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) in Oral Pathology at the University of Washington is a 24-month, CODA-accredited advanced graduate program designed to provide extensive education in the diagnosis and management of oral and maxillofacial diseases. The program integrates clinical oral medicine training, rotations in specialty clinics (oncology, dysplasia, transplant medicine), and research methodology. Students gain advanced clinical, didactic, and research skills, culminating in a master's thesis. Graduates pursue careers in academia, clinical practice, or research and develop competency in diagnosis of oral mucosal diseases, salivary gland dysfunction, oral complications from systemic therapies, and the management of medically complex dental cases. Training also includes teaching components (clinical and seminar-based instruction).
