This flexible graduate program is designed for engineers aiming to quickly acquire advanced skills in artificial intelligence and machine learning and apply these tools across engineering fields. The curriculum builds foundational math, coding, and domain-specific AI and ML expertise, focusing on practical engineering applications with physical constraints. Training emphasizes problem-solving, the responsible use of AI/ML, and understanding both technical and ethical aspects relevant to engineering applications. The program is modular: students may stack graduate certificates (such as in Modern AI Methods, Data-Driven Dynamic Systems and Controls for Engineering, etc.) to build toward the full master’s degree. Learning is delivered through part-time, online, or hybrid formats, taught by faculty from across UW’s top engineering and computing departments. The program does not sponsor F-1/J-1 visas but admits non-U.S. citizens who do not require them, and offers remote learning options for overseas students.
