The Bachelor of Arts in Geography at the University of Washington offers a strong interdisciplinary curriculum that explores the spatial and social processes shaping our world. The program emphasizes both breadth and depth by requiring students to complete courses across four major tracks (Cities, Citizenship, and Migration; Environment, Economy, and Sustainability; GIS, Mapping, and Society; and Globalization, Health, and Development), then specialize in one track through focused upper-division coursework. Students gain skills in research design, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and geo-visualization, and participate in community-engaged learning through internships and independent research. The degree prepares graduates for careers in fields such as GIS, non-profit organizations, data analysis, and public service, as well as for graduate study.
