The Bachelor of Arts in Biology at the University of Washington’s College of Arts & Sciences provides a broad, integrative education in the life sciences. The BA degree is designed for students interested in understanding biological principles without pursuing the more intensive supporting science sequences required for the BS. The curriculum covers foundational and advanced topics across general biology, ecology, molecular/cellular development, physiology, and plant biology. Students participate in coursework, laboratory, and field experiences, and can take classes through multiple departments. Graduates are prepared for careers in research, education, health sciences, environmental policy, government, business, and more. Minors in Paleo Biology and Marine Biology are available. The BA is flexible and well suited for students seeking broad biological training or interested in double majors.
