Informatics at the University of Washington’s Information School is the interdisciplinary study, design, and development of information technology for society. The program focuses on how people, information, and technology interact to address real-world challenges in justice, health, democracy, wellness, and more. Students gain skills in designing, building, managing, and securing information systems while being encouraged to look at the societal impact of tech, justice, equity, and inclusivity. The curriculum is experiential, emphasizing teamwork, problem solving, and project-based learning, with options to specialize in areas such as Data Science, HCI, Cybersecurity, Health Informatics, and more. Students graduate prepared for careers in UX design, software engineering, data analysis, information management, and related roles in industry, public service, and research.
