The BS in Environmental Public Health at the University of Washington's School of Public Health is an applied science undergraduate program. It emphasizes identification, prevention, and control of environmental factors threatening human health. Coursework covers environmental health regulation, environmental sampling, microbiology, epidemiology, toxicology, and risk assessment. Students can focus on one of three areas: Biomedical Sciences, Health & Environmental Science, or Environmental Public Health Practice. The program prepares graduates with a 400-hour required internship, developing practical and professional skills for careers in environmental health in government, industry, or further academic study. As a STEM-designated and nationally accredited program, graduates are competitive for positions as environmental health specialists and related fields.
