The Bachelor of Science in Bioresource Science and Engineering (BSE) at the University of Washington is a multidisciplinary undergraduate program that integrates mathematics, chemistry, engineering, and environmental sciences for the sustainable manufacture of fiber products, fuels, and chemicals from biomass resources. The curriculum combines theory and hands-on laboratory instruction, focusing on real-world applications such as conversion of low-value materials into high-value bioproducts, biofuels, nanomaterials, and sustainable fibers. The ABET-accredited program offers small class sizes (20-25 students), extensive faculty contact, research opportunities (including internships), and has an almost 100% job placement rate in fields related to bioproducts, environmental technology, engineering, and research.
