The Bachelor of Arts in Media and Journalism at the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media prepares students for careers in journalism and media by offering a broad liberal arts education combined with in-depth study of media policy, media law, journalistic ethics, and techniques essential for 21st-century communicators. Students learn to understand and apply the principles of free speech and the responsibilities of a free press, gain experience in writing, multimedia, and reporting, and are equipped to think critically and conduct research for a variety of media professions. The program includes sequences in editing and graphic design, electronic communication, multimedia, photojournalism, and reporting, as well as tracks in advertising and public relations. Graduates are prepared to work ethically, accurately, and creatively in a fast-evolving communications landscape.
