The Pitt School of Education’s Master of Science in Applied Developmental Psychology program trains students to become experts in applying knowledge of child development and evidence-based practices to improve outcomes for children, youth, and families. The program emphasizes the integration of research and practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and real-world problem solving. Students complete 18 credits of core courses, 12 elective specialization credits, and 6 credits of community-based practice including a capstone project. Specialized concentration options are available, such as Behavioral Health in Schools and Communities, Applied Research Methods, and Infant Mental Health. The program is suited for careers in schools, community agencies, or health care, and offers opportunities for certification, study abroad, and fieldwork.
