The University of Pittsburgh's MSW/MID Joint Degree program is offered through the School of Social Work in partnership with the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA). Students earn both a Master of Social Work and a Master of International Development in approximately three years of full-time study, with reduced total required credits compared to earning both degrees separately. The program prepares graduates for leadership and policy-making roles in urban nonprofit and government organizations, community development, international policy, and social and urban planning. Students gain advanced knowledge and competencies in both social work and international development. Participants must apply and gain acceptance into both schools separately, spending one year in each program before taking joint coursework. All regular admissions requirements for each degree apply.
