The University of Pittsburgh’s Master of Health Administration (MHA) program at the School of Public Health offers a CAHME-accredited, competency-based curriculum designed to prepare students for early to mid-level management positions in healthcare systems, managed care, health insurance, long-term care organizations, and related consulting firms. The program integrates evidence-based practice and faculty research to provide a foundation of knowledge, analytical and communication skills, and professional values. Students complete 60 credits, including core public health and health management courses, electives, a supervised management residency (typically in the summer), and a required master’s essay. Graduates achieve high placement in fellowships or full-time roles in hospitals, health systems, physician practices, and consulting. The program was ranked #12 in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report in 2025.
