The BS in Applied Developmental Psychology (ADP) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Education develops students’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills for supporting the well-being of children, youth, families, and communities. The curriculum focuses on human development, professional issues, program design, evaluation, social-emotional skills, research methods, and applied work in educational and community settings. Students complete coursework totaling 48 major credits (plus 12 electives) and undertake 300–600 internship hours in child- and youth-serving organizations. The program prepares graduates for professions as child life specialists, child/youth advocates, group care workers, and for further study in fields like education, psychology, or counseling. A Teacher Certification track (CASE) is available for those seeking PK-4 and Special Education licensure.
