The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering at the Swanson School of Engineering, University of Pittsburgh prepares students to solve complex and evolving environmental engineering problems. Beginning with foundational studies in mathematics, physics, chemistry, humanities, and social sciences, students advance to specialized courses addressing air, water, and land systems, laboratory analysis, energy, sustainability, and environmental system design. The curriculum emphasizes project management, professional communication, environmental policy, and prepares graduates for careers in engineering practice, licensure (pending ABET accreditation), business, law, public policy, or further graduate study. Students complete a capstone design project with industry engagement. Transfer admission requires a minimum 3.0 GPA and completion of freshman prerequisites. Program emphasizes lifelong learning, creativity, and a global perspective.
