The BA in Middle Eastern and South Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Virginia provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the languages, literatures, religions, and visual traditions of the Middle East and South Asia. Students choose a primary language of focus (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit), and develop linguistic skills alongside deep cultural and literary analysis. The interdisciplinary curriculum trains students in both language proficiency and critical approaches to the historical and contemporary contexts of the two diverse regions.
