The UC Davis School of Law LL.M. Immigration Law Concentration provides advanced, focused study in immigration law for graduate students and professionals. It is designed for those seeking substantial expertise in U.S. immigration policy, citizenship, asylum, refugee law, and legal practice affecting migration. LL.M. students gain the concentration designation by completing foundation and elective courses in immigration law, earning at least 8 units from an approved list, and successfully completing a major research paper on an immigration law topic. All students are fully integrated into JD courses, have access to individualized academic advising, networking, and global alumni resources. Optionally, students may take advantage of a two-year LL.M. program for deeper specialization and research. Areas of concentration include topics such as Asylum and Refugee Law, Advanced Immigration and Citizenship Law, Critical Race Theory, Employment Discrimination, and International Taxation, among others. The program offers August and January start dates. Graduates are prepared for advanced legal practice or further doctoral research in immigration law and related fields.
