The Animal Science and Management program at UC Davis combines fundamental training in the biological sciences with management and economics. Students gain broad knowledge in natural science areas (chemistry, biology, physiology, nutrition, genetics, mathematics, and behavior) and foundational business disciplines (marketing, economics, accounting). The curriculum allows specialization by animal area (e.g., equine, livestock, poultry, companion animals) and prepares graduates for diverse careers in agribusiness, veterinary medicine, research, pharmaceutical consulting, farm and ranch management, and more. Students develop scientific and managerial skills for addressing complex problems related to the care, welfare, and use of domestic and captive animals, as well as the operational and financial challenges in agricultural enterprises. The program includes required preparatory and advanced coursework, with options for research, internships, and global experiences.
