The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the UC Davis College of Engineering is an ABET-accredited program designed to provide broad and rigorous training in the fundamental and applied aspects of mechanical engineering. The program begins with foundational courses in mathematics, natural sciences, and basic engineering, followed by advanced study in topics such as dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, controls, manufacturing, mechatronics, and system analysis. In their fourth year, students can focus on specialized topics such as vehicle stability, combustion, environmental systems or mechatronics. Graduates are prepared for a wide variety of technical careers, graduate studies, research and innovative endeavors in industry, government, and entrepreneurship. The department offers hands-on research, internships, and global learning opportunities.
