The Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature at the University of California, Davis (College of Letters and Science) provides an interdisciplinary, global approach to the study of literature. Students interpret works from at least two literary traditions, often in original languages and in translation, with a focus on understanding literature and culture across temporal, regional, and generic boundaries. The curriculum integrates coursework in comparative literature, theory and criticism, and national literatures of the student's choice. Students can specialize by genre, period, or movement, and have opportunities for research, a senior thesis, study abroad, and direct faculty mentorship. The department faculty includes renowned scholars across diverse linguistic and cultural specialties.
