USC Thornton School of Music’s Bachelor of Music (BM) in Vocal Arts is a four-year, 132-unit program focused on classical voice and opera. Students engage in individual vocal instruction, acting for singers, diction, science-informed voice pedagogy, song literature, core music studies (music theory, aural skills, music history, conducting, ensembles), and general education. The program requires junior and senior recitals and culminates in a Young Artist capstone project. Emphasis is placed on developing a distinctive musical voice and artistic flexibility for a professional career in vocal music.
