The BFA in Cinematic Arts, Film & Television Production at the USC School of Cinematic Arts is an intensive four-year undergraduate program that combines a liberal arts education with a thorough technical and creative specialization in contemporary media production. Students gain hands-on experience in all areas of filmmaking—including producing, directing, cinematography, editing, production design, and sound—while working collaboratively in project-based courses. The curriculum also incorporates electives and requirements from other Cinematic Arts divisions such as Critical Studies, Writing, Animation and Interactive Media. The program emphasizes not only technical proficiency, but also original story expression, creative vision, and adaptation to emerging media technologies. Required major courses are taken sequentially, and students participate in individual and group filmmaking projects using state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.
