The Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech's Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering (a partnership between Georgia Tech College of Engineering and Emory University School of Medicine) is accredited by ABET and provides a foundation in engineering, mathematics, and the life sciences. Students are challenged with practical, hands-on problem-solving, multidisciplinary design, and research opportunities. The curriculum prepares graduates for roles in the medical device, biotechnology, and healthcare sectors, as well as for further professional or academic study. Students may pursue certificate and research options, such as a Multidisciplinary Certificate in Biomaterials and an intensive Research Option involving undergraduate thesis work. The program is designed to produce graduates able to address 21st-century healthcare challenges by integrating engineering innovation and translational research.
