The BS in Nuclear and Radiological Engineering at Georgia Tech's College of Engineering provides a robust education in the fundamentals and applications of nuclear energy as well as radiation in medical and industrial fields. The curriculum covers nuclear reactor core design, reactor systems engineering, nuclear power economics, reactor operations, radiation sources and detection, radiation transport, radiation protection, criticality safety, regulatory requirements, and radioactive materials management. Students have opportunities for undergraduate research, internships, co-operative work assignments, and study abroad, and may pursue accelerated BS/MS options. The program is designed to support both immediate entry into the workforce or continued graduate education, and prepares graduates to contribute to the field with professional and ethical principles that prioritize public safety and the environment.
