Queen's University Belfast's BA English program provides rigorous intellectual training in both English language and literature. Students engage with a curriculum covering a broad range of periods and genres, including Anglo-Saxon, Irish, British, and global literatures, set within historical, cultural, and material contexts. Language modules address the history, structure, and usage of English, as well as the forces shaping its evolution. Creative writing modules are available, supporting specialization in prose fiction, poetry, and scriptwriting. The program emphasizes critical engagement, scholarly breadth, flexible module options, and access to internationally recognized writers, including those affiliated with the Seamus Heaney Centre. Opportunities for study abroad exist from 2024-5 onward.
