The BA Politics at Queen's University Belfast provides an in-depth understanding of politics, political theory, the governance of states, and the role of citizens in political processes. The curriculum is designed to cover the sources of conflict, cooperation, power, and decision-making within and between societies. Students engage with topical issues such as democratic innovations, environmental politics, migration, political conflicts, Brexit, populism, freedom, equality, and security. The degree structure progresses from foundational political ideas and comparative politics to advanced modules in theory, research, and specialist topics. In the final year, students can undertake placements with local organizations or write a dissertation, gaining valuable practical or research experience. The program does not require prior training in politics and is open to students from diverse backgrounds.
