The Master of Physical Education (MPE) program at Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, Arizona State University prepares graduates to teach and conduct research on quality physical education programs for learners in preschool through grade 12. The program offers three tracks: K-12 Teaching, Pedagogy Research, and Initial Teacher Certification. All tracks emphasize designing, implementing, and assessing comprehensive school physical activity programs. Graduates of the teacher certification route receive eligibility for Arizona teacher certification in Secondary Education (grades 6-12) and a physical education endorsement (preK-12) upon meeting exam requirements. The curriculum includes required core courses, electives, and an applied project, culminating in a comprehensive exam. The program reflects current global trends in promoting physical activity for children, youth, school staff, and surrounding communities.
