The Master of Science in Global Health (MSGH) program at Northwestern University's School of Professional Studies is offered in partnership with the Feinberg School of Medicine’s Center for Global Health Education. It is designed for clinicians, researchers, epidemiologists, nonprofit administrators, policy analysts, social entrepreneurs, and other professionals aiming to improve healthcare outcomes and systems, especially in resource-limited settings. The interdisciplinary curriculum emphasizes both theory and practical application, covering topics such as epidemiology, global health systems, bioethics, policy, grant writing, leadership, and health management. The program can be completed fully online and part-time, allowing working professionals worldwide to participate while maintaining their commitments. Students are required to complete 12 courses (nine core + three electives), including a practicum (minimum four weeks of non-clinical fieldwork, which can be domestic or international). The degree prepares graduates for leadership and operational roles addressing global health challenges in government, NGOs, health systems, and academia. Key learning outcomes include navigating global regulatory and business issues, evaluating health outcomes, securing funding, and understanding cultural, ethical, and sustainability aspects of global health.
