The JD-LLM in International Human Rights at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law is a unique four-year joint degree program that grants both the JD (Juris Doctor) and LLM (Master of Laws) in International Human Rights. It provides a thorough grounding in the norms and mechanisms of international human rights law and international criminal law. A distinguishing requirement is a semester-long externship with an international tribunal, supreme court, or human rights organization, integrated during the second, third, or fourth year. Core courses include International Human Rights and International Criminal Law, supplemented by electives such as International Litigation, Refugees and Asylum, International Environmental Law, and practical clinics. Completion of all requirements leads to the simultaneous conferral of both degrees.
