The LLM Program in International Human Rights at Northwestern University's Pritzker School of Law provides an in-depth study and practical exposure to international human rights law and international criminal law. The program is intended for students holding a JD or an equivalent first law degree (e.g., LLB) and is notable for its small cohort size, personalized faculty mentorship through the Center for International Human Rights, and strong focus on experiential opportunities such as human rights clinics and advocacy. Students may also have the opportunity to participate in advocacy at the UN in Geneva as part of clinic projects. The curriculum includes required and elective courses in topics such as International Criminal Law, Business and Human Rights, International Litigation, Refugees and Asylum, and Human Trafficking, among others. LLM students conduct supervised research and produce a substantial thesis on a topic within international human rights or criminal law.
