The Master of Science in Medical Physics (MSMP) at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine is a clinically oriented graduate program with tracks in therapy and diagnostic imaging. The curriculum includes rigorous theoretical coursework, over 200 hours of hands-on clinical experience, and a practicum focused on either radiation therapy or diagnostic imaging. Small class sizes (fewer than 6 students per class) allow for close mentorship and one-on-one instruction. Students begin clinical exposure from the first day and are progressively trained to perform residency-level tasks by the end of the second year. Graduates are prepared for medical physics residencies, board certification pathways such as the American Board of Radiology (ABR), and may also pursue a Ph.D. in medical physics or related fields.
