The MSN – Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Lifespan) program at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing is nationally ranked (#2) and combines a comprehensive evidence-based curriculum with practical training across the lifespan. The hybrid format blends online coursework with 1-3 immersive on-campus sessions per semester. Students complete 560 clinical practice hours in diverse psychiatric settings, including child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric care. The program covers advanced pathophysiology, neuroscience, population-based care, psychotherapy, and psychopharmacology. Graduates are prepared for ANCC certification and roles in hospital, community, private, and entrepreneurial practice. Admission requires a strong commitment to mental health, a BSN, and RN licensure; applicants without a BSN may be considered via the Master of Nursing prespecialty.
