The Sociology (MA (SocSci)) program at the University of Glasgow studies how people organize their lives, the constraints they face, social behavior patterns, and the causes and consequences of social inequalities. The curriculum combines sociological, criminological, and anthropological perspectives, offering a wide breadth of insight into class, identities, inequalities, everyday life, migration, health, gender, globalisation, and more. In the first two years, students gain a foundational understanding, including key concepts, theories, and classic studies in sociology. In later years, students choose elective courses and are trained in research methods, leading to their own supervised research project. Graduates are prepared for careers in sectors such as media, government, NGOs, education, data analysis, activism, and social research.
