MIT School of Architecture and Planning’s Program in Media Arts and Sciences (MAS) offers a research‑intensive master’s degree embedded in the MIT Media Lab. Students work in an apprenticeship model with a faculty advisor and research group to invent, study, and creatively apply technologies that transform how people express, communicate, learn, and interact with the world. The SM requires at least 66 units of graduate study and an original thesis; students are typically fully funded via research assistantships or fellowships tied to Media Lab projects.
