Course 6-3 is designed for students whose interests focus on software, computer systems, and theoretical computer science. The curriculum includes a required core of approximately 2.5 subjects in programming, 2.5 in systems, and 3 in algorithmic thinking and theory, plus a math subject in linear algebra or probability/statistics. Students then select two upper-level subjects in each of two specialized CS/AI&DM/EE tracks (e.g., computer architecture, HCI, programming tools, computer systems, theory). The major also requires communication-intensive subjects (CI-M) and advanced undergraduate/independent inquiry components, preparing graduates for industry or further study (including the optional 6-P MEng).
