MIT Theater Arts offers an undergraduate SB major combining a broad foundation in theater theory with intensive practical training through performance and design practica. Students select three foundational courses and approximately seven restricted electives, including two CI-M subjects; an optional pre-thesis (21T.THT) and thesis (21T.THU) provide a capstone for qualified students. The curriculum is interdisciplinary and studio-centered, engaging acting, directing, playwriting, performance media, and design, with opportunities to work with renowned faculty and CAST Artists-in-Residence. The Registrar’s degree chart specifies 186–192 units beyond the GIRs, with 90–96 units in the major and options to tailor coherent programs with the major advisor.
