MIT EECS announced that starting in Fall 2024, the 6‑2 Electrical Engineering and Computer Science SB is renamed and renumbered as 6‑5 Electrical Engineering with Computing, consolidating to a single EE degree that emphasizes areas where EE and CS overlap. The program is a flexible combination of subjects spanning core electrical engineering with substantial computing, allowing focus across circuits, devices, signals/systems, embedded and robotics, computer systems, algorithms, and software. Within MIT’s School of Engineering, Course 6 undergraduates earn the SB and may optionally apply to the department’s Master of Engineering (6‑P) for an additional year leading to the simultaneous MEng and SB.
