The UCI Master of Arts in Asian American Studies (4+1) is an accelerated program allowing current UCI undergraduate students to complete a master's degree in one year beyond the bachelor's. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary theories and methods, social justice-driven research, and hands-on engagement with local, national, and global Asian American communities. Students develop skills in critical thinking, communication, and intercultural competence, preparing them for careers in academia, education, social services, arts, law, public health, and the nonprofit sector. The curriculum is flexible, supporting individualized research interests, and includes a capstone via thesis, creative project, or comprehensive exam.
