The Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering: Premedical at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering, University of California, Irvine (UCI) is designed to provide a strong quantitative and biological foundation for students intending to pursue medical school or graduate studies in biomedical fields. The curriculum combines courses in biomechanics, bioelectronics, biotransport, and biological sciences, meeting most medical school requirements. The program involves hands-on design work related to clinical problems and can serve as preparation for careers in medicine, veterinary, or health professions. Notably, it has less engineering content and more biological sciences compared to the standard Biomedical Engineering major and is not ABET accredited.
