The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California Irvine’s Henry Samueli School of Engineering is a multidisciplinary program jointly administered by the Department of Computer Science (Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences) and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (Henry Samueli School of Engineering). The curriculum emphasizes both hardware and software fundamentals of computer science, as well as the application of engineering concepts, techniques, and methods to computer systems and software design. Students develop knowledge in circuit design, network design, system integration, and digital signal processing while learning to address real-world, multidisciplinary engineering problems with a total-systems approach. Major career paths include roles in computer infrastructure (hardware, networks, embedded devices) as well as software and networking (operating systems, compilers, networking software) in sectors such as traffic management, flight control, earthquake monitoring, automotive control, and smart homes. The program is ABET-accredited, ensuring rigorous academic and technical standards.
