The Bachelor of Arts in International Studies program at the University of California, Irvine’s School of Social Sciences provides an interdisciplinary education in global politics, economics, cultures, and history. The curriculum equips students with 21st-century analytical skills to understand and impact the evolving global community. Students follow a structured curriculum involving core courses—including Introduction to Global Studies, Global Cultures and Society, Global Political Ideologies, Global Political Economy, Human Rights and Global Governance, and Global Environmental Issues—plus elective concentrations in both geographic and global focus areas. Competency in a language other than English and an international experience or approved internship are also required. Graduates are prepared for international careers in public policy, business, NGOs, or further academic research.
